Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man accused of trying to lure several teenage girls in Roselle last week.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office says at least three incidents were reported. In all the incidents, the victims were girls ranging in age from 12 to 16. Officials say the man asked the girls if they wanted a ride or physically grabbed them on the street.
The prosecutor says all the incidents took place in a small area from Locust Street to Chandler Avenue between East Fifth and East 10th avenues in Roselle, near Abraham Clark High School and Leonard V. Moore Middle School. The incidents took place in the morning before school or in the afternoon.
Officials are also investigating two other luring attempts in Kenilworth and Linden. The Kenilworth incident involved a 15-year-old girl and took place on Sept. 21. The incident in Linden involved two 10-year-old girls and took place Tuesday.
Investigators are working to determine if the incidents in Kenilworth and Linden are related to the Roselle attempts. No one has been hurt.
Anyone who might have information about the incidents is asked to contact Union County Prosecutor's Office Sgt. Timothy Durkin at 973-698-9529 or Roselle Police Department Detective Carmen Olivera at 908-245-9200.
