Several animals were killed during a house fire on Friday in Prospect Park, according to officials. Fire crews have been on scene all morning for the fire that broke out along Fairview Avenue between North 16th and North 17th streets.
The fire broke out just before 9 a.m., according to Prospect Park Fire Chief Doug Struyk. The fire was already put out when News 12 arrived around 10:30 a.m.
No humans died in the fire, according to officials; however, a few animals died.
Chief Struyk says the fire originated from the back of the home on the second floor.
The house is rather tucked in from the street, but broken windows and a charred top can be spotted.
Two people have been displaced as a result, and the American Red Cross is assisting the pair.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
