A mother and her daughter who escaped war-torn Iraq were honored by officials in Paterson as part of International Women's Day on Wednesday.
Hiba Oudah says she remembers traveling with her mother from Iraq to Egypt first, before eventually settling in Paterson.
That's where they opened the city's first Iraqi restaurant and bakery, Al Mazaq.
The name of the restaurant means "taste of Iraq."
