There is a group in Morris County called Spectrum360 that helps people with autism to grow and live productive lives.
Some of those young adults work at Nourish.NJ three days a week. Their job is preparing meals for those in need.
Several of those with Spectrum360 were working on Thursday, packing plates of fish, broccoli and rice to be handed out to those who stopped at the facility.
For these adults living with autism, it’s their chance to grow and be productive.
“These skills are transferable. They learn about being responsible at a job, coming to work on time,” Megan Luis, with Spectrum 360. “So it teaches them these basic skills and fundamentals to be able to go to work to become a working citizen in our community.”
Nourish.NJ is important to many families in Morris County.
In 2024, the organization provided 285,000 meals to people. It delivered 13,000 meals with help from 3,800 volunteers.
With the help of volunteers of all skill levels, Nourish.NJ is always moving toward its mission of solving people of hunger, homelessness and poverty.
