Monmouth County SPCA hosting annual Clear the Shelter this weekend
The
Monmouth County SPCA is hosting its annual Clear the Shelter this weekend, and
News 12 New Jersey’s Jim Murdoch is showing off some of the animals
up for adoption at the shelter in Eatontown.
“Unfortunately
not all of these animals find their
forever homes all the time or very quickly, so this time of the year we do Clear the Shelter event where we offer really great discounts
across the board to find a beautiful loving pet to take home,” said Ross
Licitra, executive director of the Monmouth County SPCA.
Each year, the Eatontown shelter takes in more than 5,000
animals – and some of them wait a long time
before starting a new life.
“With
kittens, we have adopt one-get one, we have all discounted prices on cats
across the board and all of our
dogs – a lot of them are just donation only – whatever donation you can make to
the Monmouth County SPCA, you’ll leave with a beautiful dog,” said Ross.
Older animals need forever homes also.
“Our senior dogs
are wonderful animals, and rescuing them gives them a second chance in life.
They are usually house broken, calm, mild-mannered and make great pets,” said
Ross.
