Workers at election offices across the state have a chance to breathe on Monday - between the nine early voting days and Tuesday's general election.
Monmouth County Elections Superintendent Chris Siciliano says he wants no surprises when polls open at 6 a.m.
“You know, how you guys do your storm watch and you get down to that beach, we know it’s coming, that Category 5 will be here tomorrow at 3 o’clock. That’s us right now,” said Siciliano. “We have a motto here in Monmouth County: Maintaining the elections is our top priority.”
Siciliano oversees the staff tasked with last-minute provisional ballot sorting to handling a potentially record-setting off-presidential year turnout. A total of 65% is predicted for Monmouth County voters; roughly 25% have already cast a ballot.
“We’re doing more in a day than we did in a whole cycle,” said Siciliano.

Monmouth County uses 1,062 voting machines, all stored in a large warehouse.
Designated phone banks at election headquarters are where operators will be on call, waiting for any issues specific to the locations marked.
And just in case any legal questions arise, judges will be in court from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
