Monmouth County officials announced Thursday that they are launching an initiative designed to help restaurants still operating during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Takeout in Monmouth” will feature a website that lists restaurants in the county that are open and serving takeout. People can look up which restaurants are near their homes.
Gov. Phil Murphy issued an executive order several weeks ago barring restaurants from offering dine-in seating to slow the spread of the virus. Restaurants may only offer takeout or delivery.
Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas Arnone says that the website is not yet up and running. Officials are working with local mayors and chambers of commerce to get every restaurant’s information on to the site.
