A shipment of COVID-19 vaccines has arrived in Monmouth County, and now thousands of people who had their appointments canceled will be rescheduled.
Weather, delays and shipment issues are finally starting to ease in the county, and vaccine distribution is restarting at the mass vaccination site at Brookdale Community College.
Commissioner Tom Arnone says the county received 5,000 doses Monday. The sites affected are the two county-run centers at Brookdale and at the county ag building in Freehold.
Appointments at the college have been canceled since last Wednesday due to the extreme weather across the country, as well as a lack of supply.
Anyone who was scheduled for their first and second doses last week will be called and rescheduled. Anyone who was scheduled for a vaccine Monday will report to that location on March 1.
Arnone says the delay in vaccine shipment wiped out around 2,500 appointments, which now will be rescheduled.
