Plenty of local shops are back and ready for a busy summer season -- including many across Stony Brook Village!
We're visiting popular spots across the area this week for our Mondays on Main Street series.
The Main Street on the Harbor has 30+ shops and nearly a dozens eateries to choose from.
Gloria Rocchio, president of the Ward Melville Heritage Organization, simply says "we're coming back."
As capacity rules have been lifted, businesses have been ready to welcome back customers in droves. Among them is
Crazy Beans -- a restaurant that got through the pandemic as a family, and even helped out local health care workers in the process.
And at
The Rustic Loft, people can purchase custom furniture made on Long Island. But during the pandemic, the spot was vacant and was actually a space where people could sit down and eat the food they bought at other restaurants.
Village Florist and Events' Amanda Haggquist is another example of a business owner who pivoted successfully during the pandemic. She took window shopping to another level, where customers could see her arrangements without even having to go inside and then were able to order for delivery or pickup. She also sold flowers on Facebook Live and sold out on many of her most popular holidays.
If you're trying to hit the harbor,
Stony Brook Kayak and Paddleboard Rentals not only has you covered -- it'll bring your method of transportation right to you -- no carrying required. And if you're trying to relax, it even offers paddleboard yoga.
The Long Island Museum and Ward Melville Heritage Organization Educational & Cultural Center have a number of exhibitions and performances to check out.
After doing so much in a day -- or if you're planning a staycation -- the historic Three Village Inn has plenty of rooms.
