The mother of a Jersey City police officer who was killed during a robbery at a Walgreens is now suing the pharmacy store chain.
Catherine McBride said the Jersey City store did not have enough security on July 13, 2014, when her son, Officer Melvin Santiago, was shot by a suspected robber.
The wrongful death suit also names the security guard and the company that hired him.
The suspect in the robbery assaulted the security guard and took his gun. He then opened fire on police as they arrived, hitting Santiago in the head and killing him.
