The Monmouth County Health Department is making it easier for people on the front lines if they want to get tested for COVID-19, deploying its mobile testing center to several towns a week.
The mobile testing center is for first responders and health care workers only, in addition to the other public sites available per week.
The mobile testing lab will be at the Middletown Fire Department Tuesday, located at 336 State Highway 35 in Middletown, and on Thursday, at the Wall Township Camp Evans parking lot located at 800 Monmouth Road.
The sites will be open to first responders and health care workers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but only 100 testing kits are available at each location.
The Monmouth County Health Department will also be a vaccine provider, focusing on hospitals and health care workers first. A complete list of testing sites and schedules can be found here.
Freeholder Director Tom Arnone says if demand continues to increase, they will add more tests. As more tests are performed, higher positive cases are discovered. Sunday, 458 positive cases were recorded in the county -- one of the highest daily reports since March.
