The Middlesex Fire Department Carnival has been canceled this year.

The fire department says it was due to last year's over attendance that caused multiple issues.

The carnival was a 50-year tradition for the fire department.

Last year, Middlesex police had to shut down the carnival down 2 ½ hours early after what they called "unprecedented crowds," "minor disturbances" and "a threat to safety."
