Parents in Middlesex County are keeping a closer eye on their children after receiving two reports of men attempting to lure young girls into cars.
According to police, a man told a young girl he had a puppy in his van in an attempt to abduct her. Resident Michael Maltz and his daughters live only houses away from that girl.
"It's what they teach kids ? be careful if someone offers you candy or a puppy," says Maltz. "Sure enough, my daughter still loves puppies."
Edison police say they're investigating a similar incident. A 9-year-old told authorities a man tried to pick her up at the intersection of Sturges and Ashley roads.
In both incidents, the girls ran away.
Police don't believe the cases are related. The Edison incident involved a dark pick-up truck, while the Woodbridge suspect is believed to be driving a black van.
