Authorities are investigating the possible suicide of a Merrill Lynch employee in the company's Short Hills parking lot.

Police say the employee was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gun wound early Monday morning. There is some concern financial stress may have played a part in the employee's death due to recent economic turmoil.

A Merrill Lynch spokesman says the company is making counseling programs available to all employees.
