The Manchester Township Police Department on Wednesday released the 911 calls from a woman moments after she was shot by her boyfriend last month.

Gabriella Caroleo, 25, was shot by 35-year-old Maxwell Johnson in the stomach on June 27, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Caroleo was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries. Before she got to the hospital, Caroleo called police from the side of the road at Ridgeway Road and South Hope Chapel.

“What happened with your boyfriend? I've been shot, help?” police asked Caroleo.

Johnston was on the run from police after shooting Carleo, who he'd been in an on again off again relationship with. The ordeal ended in a standoff with police before Johnston took his own life.

“It's not going to bring my sister back, but it'll definitely give us some kind of closure at least about what happened that night,” said Anna Caroleo, Gabriella’s sister.

The investigation into Caroleo’s death is ongoing.
