A 48-year-old man was shot in the foot during a shooting in Longwood Monday, according to police.

Investigators say the shooting happened near Fox Street and East 165th Street around 9:15 am. Evidence markers and shell casings lined the road as detectives searched for clues. The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Neighbors say gun violence has become a recurring problem in the area. Some residents told News 12 they believe the victim may have been a rideshare driver dropping off a passenger when someone drove by and opened fire. Bullets shattered the windshield of one parked car and struck another vehicle around the corner.

Police say the suspect drove away in a white sedan heading west on East 165th Street.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to call the police.
