A Paterson man who pleaded guilty for two separate fatal shootings of young people was sentenced to a combined total of 35 years in prison.
Jhymiere Moore received 20 years in prison for the death of 12-year-old Genesis Rincon and 15 years in prison for the death of 16-year-old Ragee Clark. Both deaths occurred in 2014.
Rincon was hit by a stray bullet in July 2014 while she was riding her scooter. Rincon’s father address Moore at the sentence hearing Friday.
“I don’t blame you personally,” said Alexis Rincon. “I do forgive you…because it’s the streets. And you’re a father now. And I hope you never have to feel what I felt, or what any of these families felt.”
Clark’s mother also addressed Moore during the hearing.
“That was my baby, my oldest son…sometimes I can’t sleep at night,” Kowanda Holmes said.
Moore must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
