A man has been found guilty in the killing of a former Hoboken football star.

Authorities say 35-year-old Albert Morales, of North Bergen, was convicted and now faces sentencing in September.

Prosecutors say Morales fired a gun outside a building on Marshall Drive in Hoboken in April 2024.

The victim, 21-year-old Damon Murray, was a standout football player at Hoboken High School and later earned a spot at Rutgers.

The loss deeply impacted the community.

Just months after the shooting, a gym on Jackson Street was renamed in Murray's honor.

Mayor Emily Jabbour says the city continues to feel the loss of the young athlete.
