A 21-year-old Keansburg man is facing attempted murder charges following a highway shooting that left a woman hospitalized.

Jaiden V. Edwards, of the Bayshore area, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The shooting happened Monday at about 5:43 p.m., when Neptune Township police responded to the area of the Asbury Park Circle and state Highway 35 South after reports of shots fired.

Shortly after the call, a woman arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Authorities have not released her identity or an update on her condition.

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Neptune police quickly identified Edwards as the shooter.
