A man has been charged with arson in a fire that destroyed several Somerville businesses, prosecutors announced.
Amr Khodeer is accused of starting the fire in the basement of King Tut's Restaurant on West Main Street. That fire then spread to several nearby businesses and displaced more than 15 people.
Authorities say Khodeer fled the scene, got into a stolen vehicle and sped away before crashing in Bridgewater.
Khodeer was arrested shortly after the crash and was found to have fresh burns. He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle at the time.
Prosecutors announced the additional arson charges against Khodeer on Thursday.
