The man accused of holding police officers at bay in a 35-hour fatal standoff refused to appear for his court arraignment.
Tyleeb Reese was scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday via video link from jail. But his attorney said that Reese refused to leave his cell and would not appear.
U.S. marshals came to arrest Reese last week for failing to register as a sex offender. Officials say that he opened fire on the marshals instead and shot a neighbor who was walking past the building during the standoff.
Robert Powell died from three gunshot wounds. Reese was charged for his murder.
A detention hearing is now set for Thursday.
