Major hazmat spill shuts down County Route 539, accident leaves at least 1 dead in Ocean County

A major hazmat spill has closed down County Route 539, between Route 72 and Harry Wright Boulevard, in Lacey Township, and News 12 has confirmed the accident is fatal.

A major hazmat spill has shut down County Route 539, between Route 72 to the south and Lincoln Boulevard to the north, in Lacey Township, and News 12 has confirmed the accident is fatal.
The accident happened just before 6 a.m.
News 12 is told a dump truck and vehicle collided. A fire broke out, and up to 60 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway. At least one person is dead.
Ocean County Sheriff Mike Mastronardy says hazmat crews are on scene containing the spill. He says expect County Route 539 to be closed for at least the next few hours.
Commuters are advised to avoid the area if possible. The closure is affecting the area between Route 72 and Harry Wright Boulevard. Local traffic is allowed between Harry Wright and Lincoln boulevards.
