Here, we are on a Friday and for this edition of Main Street, New Jersey, our Tony Caputo is visiting local businesses in West New York and I think Tony Caputo was at a bakery right now and if I know what these things were, he usually package them up and take them back to the newsroom that happened today. Do you do that every time? You know what I would, I would need a U haul truck to bring back everything in this bakery back to the station. And this is unbelievable and we love it because it opens so early. So that's perfect for us, Dulce de Leche. She's been Dulce. That's where I get it wrong all the time. Look at this cabinet. Lilia Liliana is here with me. Uh uh She's been kind of walking through this place but Liliana argue right. I got it. All right. She works here. I mean, this display case is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in New Jersey. I mean, this is fantastic and you have that delicious carrot cake that is screaming my name right now. That's one of my favorites. But tell me about this, I mean, how many different varieties do you have in here? Well, we have about 6 to 86 to 8 different flavors available here in the store. But we have others that are special order mostly is the house cake, which is an Argentinian cake, which is what represents us. Which one is that this one right here right here. Yes. Yes. She has a crunchy merengue which is something that is their signature on their cake. And from the chocolate family would be the dulce and look at all these people. I mean, this place is packed. Come on over here, Liliana. Let's uh let's meet somebody else here from town as we drink our delicious coffee and en enjoy ourselves. We got, Adam Parkinson is here as well. He is the Commissioner of Revenue and Finance here in West New York. Adam business obviously very important to you and this business is thriving. Tell me about this business and West New York's business in this business. So is one of those in West New York and we're very lucky to have them here. Uh The mayor and our commissioners, we always emphasize people to shop local and Bergen Line Avenue is one of uh that heart of West New York. So we're so happy that you guys are here and we're happy to talk to you about. This is unbelievable. Where's my photographer? Oh, there he is. He's back behind me, Rudy Boat. I mean, this is an amazing place. So we're gonna talk about it again in about 25 minutes because he can't cover it all in one live shot. There is just way too much here to talk about main street, New Jersey. Lauren. I don't know if you guys saw what I posted on Social Laurence filling in. I'm filling in for Lauren. All right, main street, New Jersey here on a Friday morning. And this morning, our Tony Caputo is in West New York showing off some of the local businesses there. And he's saying at a very popular bakery right now, a lot of food, a lot of people you're behind the counter, they're putting you to work. Tony. Yeah, I'm ready to go to work. I mean, this place is amazing. I just said to Liliana here that if I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be here every day. She said people come here three times a day because it's so fantastic. This is uh Dulce de Leche. Dulce de Leche Bakery. You, she's been helping me out here a little bit. This is Liliana Arc. Here you go. I'm getting there. I'm getting there. I had a coffee. You say I had a, you had a cafe colle? Oh OK. Well, either way it was fantastic and I'm loving it right now. And I also ate something so delicious. What did I have earlier? Maybe a which is half moon caramel. Fantastic. Rudy. Show that off for the folks from what I just ate. It was absolutely perfect for a Friday morning. Let's talk about a couple of important things. Number one here in town parking, you have parking, there's parking here, so it makes it easy. Yes, there's two squads, public parking around the corner on 67 and one on 62nd street. Ok. So that helps, that helps a lot in a town like West New York. And number two, this is family run. You get a couple of locations, tell us about that as well because looking around is Rudy showing it up the number of employees you have here. Everybody seems to be just happy to be here. Well, this is a family business. The Baker was established in 2007 by the parents and now it's managed by their uh student orations of the family. And we have three locations, one in Jersey City, one in Inglewood in ours was New York and there's 1/4 1 coming up in the end of April in Miami, midtown, Miami, Miami. You probably want to get me down there to check that one out. Sure, we can, we should try folks in Jersey know how the Miami locations doing. I could, I could do that for you. That's perfect. I'll tell you what this is some place when we walked in, it just makes you feel good to come in here. It is so beautiful. Uh Absolutely. Smiles on everybody's faces and, and what we had and what we tasted fantastically, Anna. Thank you so much. We appreciate the time. What a great place you got to visit it here in West New York. Well, we are in West New York for today's main street, New Jersey on this Friday, Tony Caputo is out there highlighting local businesses. You are eating your way through. Tony flames are going, you're sitting at the bar, you're having a good old time there. Oh, my gosh, you're not kidding. I'm trying to impress people too. I said Las Palmas restaurant. Yeah, it's the palm, right? Yeah. Yeah, the palm, I mean, there's palm trees everywhere. I mean, they kind of made it easy for me so I can't impress that much. But look at this grill going on over here. I keep telling my wife that she needs to buy me a grill like that. Nick, but it hasn't happened yet. But look at that. I mean, that is real deal cooking right there, especially at this time the morning. This is main street at its best here in West New York. Let's meet everybody back here. Good morning. All we got the whole crew going on here. Pedro is going to explain all these beautiful dishes for us, but we have the owners here as well. Jillian and her sister, Erica and Erica. I mean, this is fantastic skirt steak. That is your specialty. Grilled meats are a specialty. That is our Churrasco skirt steak, other grilled meats and fish as you can see here and our homemade sauces. That is fantastic. Pedro. I'm hearing you've been here for 40 years, 40 years. I have worked here for about 38 years. 40 years. That is right. I'm here like in this building right here. That is amazing. Coming from Colombia. What is that? Is this where you coming from? Wow. And you got all the employees back here as well. Everybody's ready to go, uh, rattle off some of these dishes for us if you can. And if, uh, you know, I, I'm seeing some fish back here as well. That is the best Churrasco. I, this is what we're known for. This is the, the Churrasco skirt steak. We have some chicken pork chop, snapper shrimp mofongo back there. What's the number one seller? It's the skirt steak through and through. That's what people are known for. Is that right? Oh, yeah. No kidding. No kidding. And how about some of the sandwiches here too? Yes. So we have the steak sandwich. We have a Cuban sandwich as well and we have some Moro some Boche roja um rice and beans and some Maduros and An Toones. And then we have our two really popular desserts. That's the, and here's another thing too. A couple of, couple of quick things. One, I've been waiting for somebody to mention a Cuban. The first Cuban I ever had, you know, from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. First Cuban I ever had was here in West New York. Was it here here? It wasn't here here, but it was here in New York. I can't remember where it was. Number two, it will be here. That sounds good. And number two, there's plenty of parking here as well, which a lot of folks may not realize. But you got the lots and the municipal lots and everything else. Huge municipal parking lot, which makes it so much easier and so much better to come to Las Palmas. Fantastic town, fantastic restaurant. We're gonna chat with them again in another uh 20 minutes or so. Look at that. I mean, hey, you're the star, my friend, you're the star here. Look at that. You are firing that up. That is fantastic. We're gonna sit down and eat a little bit. Nick and Lauren and uh I mean, you guys read, read some more news stories or, or do whatever it is you do back there. We're here, main street, New Jersey, Las Palmas in West New York. Craig to guys. We are in West New York for main street, New Jersey on this Friday. When that jingle comes on, usually I'm behind and we, you are, you are usually out in the field. But today it is Tony Caputo who is out in West New York this morning, enjoying some delicious Cuban cuisine, Tony. You know how I know it's the best Cuban cuisine in Hudson County cuisine. I'll say that right because there's a sign here that tells me it's the best Cuban cuisine in Hudson County. This is last p let's join the sisters over here. We have Erica and Jillian Cartagena. Hey, no, I'm trying to get that right. Rudy. You keep going. I'm gonna slide in right behind you. Hello, ladies, how are we? And you got the skirt steak going, which we talked about last half hour and that is like number one here. That's it. Right. And we get, we have a supermarket downstairs. So we have fresh meat coming in daily. Yeah, that's something. But I don't mean to interrupt you. But when we pulled up, we were like, wait a minute, we're gonna eat skirt steak at a supermarket. We saw the supermarket and we didn't see the restaurant next door. But you're bringing now all that freshness from the supermarket right into the restaurant daily, prepare daily. Wow, that is fantastic. Now, I'm going to try and eat with this mic here, but I also want to talk to Jillian because Jillian, you also have a rest restaurant of your own over in four. Tell us about that. Yes, I do. I have a restaurant Cuba restaurant located at 2139 Hudson terrace. It's a Cuban Asian Fusion. Come check us out. So what's the deal with this? Like the family? Like once you, once you get it in the family, it just stays in the family. Is that how it works? That's the thing. It's not easy running these businesses and keeping things going and this business has been going for quite some time. How long years it's an institution in the community and our family has been running it for the past 20. So you kind of have an idea of how to make it successful, hopefully. Is there a secret to that? How long has your business been going? It's been there for about five years. And that's kind of the key with business is that five years, that first five years at that mark right now. So, you know, we just want to keep it going. Wow, this is fantastic. I mean, you can't beat what you have out here, you know, we have the Cuban sandwich that we talked about earlier. First Cuban I ever had was here in West New York. As a matter of fact, the skirt steak, I'm going to devour it like right now this is Main Street. Hey, Lauren do. I did my best impersonation of you there. I was running around the corner, all that energy that you have. I'm trying to, you know, get all that energy going today for Main Street as well. And you know, the palms, las palmas. I know, I know what's going on around here. I'm learning a lot. There's also palm trees everywhere so it made it easy for her ladies. Thank you both. Very much, great restaurant. Great uh Main Street, New Jersey. You can't beat it. Fantastic. You know, I gotta tell you we're at Centro Latino and first of all, I can hardly hear you guys because it's packed in here. And that's a good thing. This place is fantastic. And let me, let me introduce Odell Ventura. He's here, his family. All right, Odell, I gotta tell you, I'm a little offended because there's just not enough food out here on the table. We don't like to serve that much out. Holy moly. I mean, where do we begin? Like let's start with like what's your best seller out of all of this? So here? Very popular, right? La Ropa, right? We also have our for appetizer. This is freshly made avocado guacamole. Our shrimp tacos here. La PAA the New York shrimp. Look at that steak. That is unbelievable. Oh Yeah, it's delicious moly. And what am I eating here? Your pasta primavera there made some shrimp vegetables. Fantastic. That's a fantastic one there. Now, this is what 30 years 30th anniversary for the restaurant. And you're how old? I'm 31. You're good luck John, you're the one you got. It started for everybody. A boat. We could show the food off and we will. We're swinging around. We got the whole family at the table here. Everybody's pitching in. Tell me who we got these two guys here. They the mastermind behind all this. This is my uncle Sal and then my father over there and then I got my sister across from him and my wife and my son, Luca. Look at the baby. He knows he waved right away. He just, he, he is a green light player. He's ready to go. Mi Mr October. I love it. No, you and I got my two cousins over there. So I was gonna say your best man, right? My best man over there in the blue sweater and his brother Manny in the red over there and he's eating. Yeah. Yeah, we have more cousins up here. Fantastic. Centro Latino, West New York.
