Letter carriers? arms and bags were full Wednesday on what many postal employees consider the heaviest delivery day of the year.
The Monday the week before Christmas is widely considered the busiest day of the year for the nation?s post offices. Wednesday then becomes swamped for carriers after the shipments are processed by the postal service.
Mail carriers across the country were expected to deliver about 17 billion letters, cards and packages.
"It's a good time of year - I like this,? says mailman Ralph Jurkiewicz. ?Good to be out here and see the people."
