On this week's Made on Long Island, News 12’s Jenn Seelig visited Bellmore where one local woman started her French macaron business at home and then recently opened her first retail store.
Jeanne Cattanach, president and founder of Macaron 5 Chic bakery, started her cookie business 7.5 years ago. She started baking French macarons in different locations. Eventually, she opened her first retail store last October.
"Every day I sit in the front there, have my coffee and think how did I get here? How did this happen? Because it all just happened by accident," she said.
All of Cattanach’s brightly colored sandwich cookies are gluten-free. The cookies at Macaron 5 Chic are sold in local coffee shops and are shipped nationwide.
