Passover is approaching in New Jersey, and Kedem grape juice and wine will be part of celebrations for millions.

The products are processed in Bayonne at the Royal Wine Corporation.

Kedem is the second largest grape juice producer in the world, creating two million cases of grape juice and half a million cases of wine in Bayonne.

The company’s roots go back centuries. The Herzog family began making wine in Czechoslovakia in 1848. Family members said they came to the United States in 1948 after being hidden at great risk by employees during the Holocaust.

The family later built their wine‑making experience into what is now the largest producer of kosher wine and grape juice. The company employs more than 400 people.

At the Bayonne facility, crushed grape juice arrives from their wineries. It is processed, sometimes fermented, and bottled under strict standards. Staff say everything from room temperature to the bottle‑washing process is monitored.

Officials say the company also imports and distributes thousands of alcoholic products from many regions of the world.

Kedem leaders say their work is guided by tradition and family values.
