A South Jersey mayor is facing charges after being accused of driving drunk with her child in the car.

Prosecutors say Gina LaPlaca, 46, the mayor of Lumberton, admitted she had been drinking before picking up her son from daycare on St. Patrick’s Day.

Court documents show police found an open container in her car.

Officials say a grand jury moved ahead with charges this morning. The next court date is set for Monday.
