Friends, family and loved ones gathered in Bergen County Tuesday to remember a Saddle Brook teen killed in a car crash over the weekend.
Hundreds gathered at Saddle Brook High School for the vigil. Those who attended say that Brooke Constanzo, 16, was a bright and popular student. She was a cheerleader and an athlete at Saddle Brook High School.
“She was so smart, she was so kind. She was beautiful,” said friend Angelica Parisi. “She was one of the best people that I ever had the privilege to know.”
Most of the mourners wore purple, Constanzo’s favorite color. They took a slow lap around the high school track in the rain.
“She was amazing. She really was,” Parisi said. “She could turn any situation from bad to good as soon as possible.
Constanzo died Sunday night after crashing into a tree while driving in South Brunswick. Police are still investigating the crash, but say that she was too young to have her license. Police say they believe that speed may have been a factor in the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been involved.
Constanzo’s father died a few years ago. She is survived by her mother and two sisters.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family pay for services.
