The COVID-19 pandemic has caused theaters, concert venues and comedy clubs to close their doors – which means that many live performances must be conducted outside.

The Black Box Performing Arts Center in Englewood will have a performance of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” outside.

But this means some changes. The cast will be wearing masks and despite “The Tempest” being a love story, there will be no kissing to keep the actors socially distant.

“We understand they’re in love. They blow kisses to each other,” says director Michael Gardiner.

The Centenary Stage Company launched an outdoor concert series on Thursday night called the Front Porch concert series.
