Lightning struck a home in Old Bridge during Thursday's heavy storms.
People who live here said it was the loudest sound they've heard, and it wasn't the rolling thundering but the crack of the lightning.
There is debris on home's front yard, but it was the attic where people say the lightning struck and then caught on fire.
The fire was reportedly brought under control very quickly.
The Old Bridge Office of Emergency Management says everyone was able to make it out, including their dogs, but couldn’t get their birds out.
The biggest challenge was the intense rain.
