Officials at the Liberty Humane Society are voicing their concerns about Spectra Energy's plans to expand a gas pipeline through their property.
The Jersey City humane society says the expansion of the Spectra Pipeline would put the animals' lives at risk and force an eviction. Officials say they were told construction would start in two weeks.
Irene Borngraeber, the society's director of development, says the pipeline will prevent the humane society from effectively operating.
A Spectra Energy spokesperson says reports of imminent construction underneath the humane society are wrong.
