A new lawsuit was filed against Jersey City officials in the ongoing case of city police officers fired for using legal marijuana.

Two officers who were fired claim that Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop created an illegal policy barring marijuana use by city officers in an attempt to win over conservative voters.

Fulop is running for governor in 2025 when Gov. Phil Murphy’s current term ends.

Fulop has previously said that he does not want Jersey City police officers using legal marijuana because there is no good way to test if an officer used cannabis on the job or off the job.
