A key Democratic lawmaker says the Assembly and state Senate will vote on a five-bill package aimed at helping a struggling Atlantic City.

Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo said Tuesday the legislation will get a vote on June 11 in the Assembly and on June 25 in the Senate.

The bills were introduced last year as four of the city's 12 casinos closed their doors but have been stalled since. Senate President Steve Sweeney had called on Gov. Chris Christie to publicly embrace the package, but the governor has said he would wait the bills to reach his desk before signing off on them.

The measures include a property tax payment scheme that would help stabilize income for the city. Property tax income has fallen as casinos have successfully appealed their payments.
