A large-scale police investigation is underway in Newark on Springfield Avenue.

The investigation is taking place between Bedford Street and Irvine Turner Boulevard.

Details about the investigation were not immediately provided, but the Essex County Prosecutor's Office tells News 12 that its investigators are on the scene.

The investigation appears to be centered around a bodega in the area.

Photos from the scene show multiple areas blocked off with police tape. News 12 crews also saw a police K-9 unit in the area.
