A landlord trying to collect back rent from a tenant in Hampton says he found dead, frozen cats and animal feces in the residence.
Michael Joyce says when he went to collect rent from tenant Debra Thomas, she had moved out and left behind eight dead cats in the freezer. According to Joyce, Thomas also left the house littered with cat and dog feces.
Neighbors say Thomas never cleaned up after her animals and the house often reeked of feces.
The Hampton and Hunterdon County health departments will make sure the house is thoroughly cleaned and fixed up before anyone else moves in. Hampton Mayor Rob Walton says the city never received any complaints about the property.
