Gov. Ned Lamont and his challenger, state Rep. Josh Elliot, participated in a debate Wednesday ahead of next month's Democratic Gubernatorial primary.

The two candidates discussed taxes, speed cameras, ICE officers wearing masks, the Department of Children and rising utility costs.

Elliot has suggested that municipalities take over utilities and supports putting wires underground, an idea Lamont says will cost billions to complete.

Meanwhile, Lamont said he will continue to hold Eversource and United Illuminating accountable.

The primary is Aug. 11. Early voting will begin Aug. 3.
