A Lake Hiawatha man wasn?t thinking about himself when he ran into his neighbor?s burning home to save her.
Stephen Regan said the whole back of his neighbor?s home was on fire after a gas stove exploded. When he ran to the front door, he saw 60-year-old Annette Scott trapped inside. Regan said he was able to force the door open and rescue Scott.
Regan brought Scott to his home to wait for an ambulance. Scott suffered second-degree burns to her hand and forehead. She is recovering in the hospital. Regan was not injured in the incident.
As for his heroic actions: ?That?s what neighbors are for. You gotta watch out for each other,? Regan said. ?Life?s too short. I hope they?d do the same for my wife and me.?
