‘Kindness is king.’ East Orange students stomp out bullying at march and rally

Kids are standing up against bullying and spreading positivity in Essex County.
Four hundred students and staff at the East Orange Community Charter School walked down Washington Street and Park Avenue for the school's annual Week of Respect Anti-Bullying March and Rally.
The message they say is loud and clear: "Kindness is king, and bullying has no home here."
"Bullying is not something to do," said first-grader Aisha. "It's really mean, and I don't feel like I like it."
"We want to teach our children that bullying is wrong, it can be harmful, it can be hurtful. It can lead to pain – sometimes even worse consequences." said Principal Tracey Watkins. "So we march so that we have a bully free and violent free school."
"We know our kids are very happy to have this type of event and they will remember this for a lifetime," said Mayor Ted R. Green.
