Kevin Corbett, NJ Transit’s president and CEO, to step down in January
Corbett has been at the helm of the state's mass transit system since 2018.

Kevin Corbett, president and CEO of New Jersey Transit, announced his resignation on Monday after seven years.
Corbett's official resignation will take place Wednesday Jan. 15.
The transportation agency has endured plenty of criticism recently, but Corbett does not mention as one of the reasons for his resignation.
In a letter obtained by News 12, he explains he recently accepted a new opportunity with one New Jersey's prestigious universities. He says he will still remain deeply connected to the transportation sector.
Gov. Phil Murphy responded to the announcement stating, “Kevin has worked in coordination with our federal government, Amtrak, and our legislature to develop strategic plans and solutions that address commuters’ concerns and position NJ Transit for long-term reliability and success.” The governor continues to wish him the best.
New Jersey Transit riders say they are just hoping to get to work on time.
News 12 caught up with commuter David Alston as his train was running a half-hour late at Edison station.
"I just want to get from A to B in one piece and be on time consistently," he said.
When asked what he'd like to see in a new CEO, Alston said, "He should probably ride the trains. Maybe he should drive a bus." "Maybe he should do that for a day or so."
Kevin Corbett is the third longest running CEO in NJ Transit history.
There's still no word on who will take his place.
