Three Kenilworth mail carriers were honored Wednesday for their commitment to safety.
William Cooper and brothers Joe and Patrick Crown were awarded the National Safety Council's Million Mile Award. The plaque is presented to professional drivers who have driven 1 million miles without an accident.
Patrick Crown, who has been a Kenilworth mail carrier for 31 years says that keeping a safe mindset at all times has helped him to achieve this milestone.
“You take the same precautions at home as you would at work. Whether you have your family in the car or the mail in the truck,” Crown says. “You just want to keep yourself safe and other people safe.”
To put it all in perspective, one would have to drive more than 40 times around the Earth to reach 1 million miles.
