Residents in Keansburg were drying out Saturday after receiving a thorough soaking over the past two days.
Residents say too much rain in too little time left much of the town under 2 feet of water. Many people were left stranded at home, unable to get out. Some cars that were once partially submerged were later unable to start, putting tow trucks in high demand.
"My uncle says that if you spit in this town, it floods," says Dolores Whitney, of Keansburg.
Keansburg residents say the problem with flooding has been going on for at least two decades, with public officials providing little in the way of solutions.
"It's always flooded in Keansburg," Whitney says. When asked what elected officials have told residents about the flooding, Whitney says there have been minimal communications.
