Keansburg man taken into custody following 6-hour standoff with police
A 28-year-old Keansburg man is facing charges following a six-hour standoff with law enforcement.
The incident began around 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says that Keansburg police were called to Anthony Hoff’s home located near Seeley and Carr avenues after a concerned family member called police for a wellness check.
The prosecutor says that Hoff became belligerent and threatened the responding officers. He also refused to come out of his home.
Authorities say that during the standoff, Hoff allegedly threatened officers with “the use of a firearm” and also allegedly threw a knife at the officers.
After several hours of negotiation, Hoff was taken into custody and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Hoff was charged with making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon, burglary and criminal mischief.
No injuries were reported.
