JV football season suspended at James Madison HS following alleged hazing incident

Sunday's junior varsity football game at James Madison High School was forfeited and their season cancelled, as police investigate what the Department of Education referred to as a suspected hazing incident.
Three students were accused of forcibly restraining and inappropriately touching a 14-year-old on the JV team, according to the NYPD.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
In statement to News 12 the DOE said, "Bullying and harassment, including hazing, have no place in our schools - period. Upon hearing reports of hazing, the school immediately acted. Parents were immediately notified, the school is providing supports, and an investigation is ongoing."
News 12 also reached out to the coaches for the JV team and were told by the Head Coach Tommy Salvato that he had no comment.
A football coach at the high school is under investigation after allegedly assaulting a different student, also on the football team, in a separate incident.
