After four days of deliberations, a Middlesex County jury convicted Melanie McGuire Monday of killing and dismembering her husband.
Jurors found McGuire guilty of four of the eight counts against her, including murder. She now faces 30 years to life in prison.
McGuire broke down in tears as the verdict was handed down. She was found guilty of murdering her husband, William McGuire, and then chopping his body into pieces. She later stuffed the body parts into suitcases and threw them into the Chesapeake Bay.
New Jersey Attorney General Stuart Rabner said, ?Bill McGuire was a husband and father. The defendant simply tried to make him disappear, and the jury didn?t want that to happen.?
McGuire is scheduled to be sentenced in July. The defense is expected to appeal the verdict.
