Juice company Martinelli agrees to $128,000 settlement with EPA over handling of toxic chemical

The EPA says Martinelli didn't comply with regulations regarding the handling of a chemical used as a coolant, and that violated the Clean Air Act.

S. Martinelli & Co. has agreed to a $128,000 settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency - over the juice company's handling of a toxic chemical.

The EPA says Martinelli didn't comply with regulations regarding the handling of a chemical used as a coolant, and that violated the Clean Air Act.

The agency says the company also didn't plan properly for a possible accidental release of the chemical.

The EPA has also settled with Del Mar Food Products over similar violations.
