A state Superior Court judge has denied a request to compel the state to release new details about Gov. Chris Christie's expenses while traveling out-of-state.
Judge Mary Jacobson issued an order Friday that will keep details of past expenses incurred by state troopers who accompany Christie out-of-state confidential.
The publication New Jersey Watchdog had sued for access to American Express bills that detail troopers' spending on items like food and hotel accommodations.
The publication reports Jacobson concluded that releasing the bills would pose a threat to the governor's safety based on a confidential statement from the head of his Executive Protection Unit
The state's argument had been complicated by footage of Christie describing his protection to a cub scout.
Christie has been traveling extensively since launching his campaign for president.
