One of the state’s most interesting World War II artifacts is currently on a train to New Jersey.
The New Jersey "Merci Train" is a train car that France gave New Jersey in 1949 for its help during the war.
News 12 previously reported in March that the "Merci Train" was found in bad shape in a warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri. Nobody is sure how it wound up there. It hadn't been seen in decades.
The car is now en route to the Garden State. It will be unveiled at the United Railroad Historical Society in Boonton on Sunday and will be rededicated, rebuilt and refurbished.
