A few years ago, a woman in Manville likely never thought she would one day be hosting blood drives. But causes sometimes become personal.
For Crystal Hooper, the cause became personal when she needed a blood transfusion during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hooper is doing well these days. She is now encouraging others to donate blood. Partnering with the American Red Cross, Hooper hosted a blood drive this month at the Manville Public Library, where she is a branch manager.
Many people showed up.
"I'm not just thanking you because you're going to save someone else. You are making a difference. It takes all of us to make a difference in the world,” she says.
Anyone interested in hosting a blood drive themselves can reach out to the American Red Cross and they will set you up.
