To honor the Battle of Princeton, the battle that turned the tide of the Revolutionary War, the United States Navy commissioned six ships bearing the name USS Princeton.

The current one is a guided missile cruiser that just took part in Fleet Week in San Francisco.

But it is the fourth USS Princeton that is making New Jersey proud.

The fourth USS Princeton was lost in the war with Japan 75 years ago. The light aircraft carrier was on station in the Pacific when Japanese planes attacked during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Sister ships did what they could to battle the fires that broke out. Over 1,300 crew members were saved, but in the end 108 men were lost.

To honor the men and the ship, the American flag that flew on the ship is now on display in the chapel of Princeton University.
