Freezing temperatures have disrupted ferry commutes along the Hudson River recently, but every morning the U.S. Coast Guard works to address the issue.

Bayonne is the home port of the Coast Guard Cutter Hawser, a 65-foot tugboat built to break up ice.

Two other tugboats that harbor in Bayonne are also out on the Hudson's waters, regularly breaking ice as far north as Albany.
